Currently, the EMS industry is experiencing difficulty with recruitment and retention. The rising cost of health insurance versus the typical EMS annual income does not encourage employees to stay in this industry. Therefore, we must consider alternatives that satisfy the needs of both the EMS employer and employee. The HSA can serve as part of the answer. All it takes is the foresight of a dedicated program. The long-term benefits are far greater than the short-term adjustments.
