Management of Medical Disaster Training
The National Disaster Life Support (NDLS) Foundation offers a family of courses in the management of medical disasters. The NDLS courses consist of Core Disaster Life Support (CDLS, 4 hours), Basic Disaster Life Support (BDLS, 8 hours), Advanced Disaster Life Support (ADLS, 16 hrs) and CDLS-Decontamination (CDLS-D, 8 hours). Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)
Developed by NAEMT in cooperation with the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma, PHTLS is the world’s premier prehospital trauma course that focuses on the management and transport of adult and pediatric trauma patients. Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS)
AMLS is a 16-hour educational course that provides in-depth, scenario-based study of adult medical emergencies commonly encountered in the prehospital environment. Distance Learning Through Grant Funding
The National Terrorism Preparedness Institute (NTPI) at St. Petersburg College produces ComNET and Live Response. These monthly broadcasts are designed to provide distance learning training to responders through grant funding from the Office for Domestic Preparedness. ComNET is a news-magazine program containing feature stories, news and a calendar of events. Live Response is a discussion panel of experts representing federal, state and local perspectives of terrorism prevention, preparedness, response and recovery.
