Question: What is nail “clubbing?” What does it indicate?
Answer: Clubbing is a loss of the normal angle between the nail bed and the nail. In severe cases it causes a bulbous appearance. It is caused by swelling of the soft tissues under the nail and is a result of a variety of conditions including pulmonary and cardiac disease.
