To say it’s a time of great change for EMS would be an understatement. Everything from the tools we use to how we deliver care to how we get paid to what we call ourselves is in flux, and it’s hard to imagine with much certainty what our field might look like in 5, 7 or 10 years.
What we know for sure is that the safety of the men and women doing the job will remain paramount, and helping them provide smooth, fast, quality care will still be incumbent on EMS leaders. Safety entails virtually every aspect of our jobs, and poses challenges that have persisted even as our field nears the end of its fifth decade and its greatest transition yet.
But these issues can be solved, and we can tell you how. Over the coming months, EMS World’s special EMS 2020 project will examine the breadth, depth and future of safety issues in EMS: the challenges that face us, what a better tomorrow will entail, and how we can make sure it comes to pass.
This will be a multimedia project with exclusive print and special bonus online content each month, including Q&As with experts, podcasts with industry leaders, and best practices drawn from across our industry and others that have wisdom to share. It will also be interactive, and we invite your participation and feedback at each step of the way. The future that’s being shaped belongs to you. What kind of EMS World can you imagine? Achieving it starts now.
