Nine Hurt in Fla. Sport Car Verses Bus Collision

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. --
Nine people are being treated in the hospital on Wednesday afternoon after a Mazda Miata rear-ended a Lynx bus on North Orange Blossom Trail, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash shut down North OBT for more than an hour.
The Lynx bus driver was not found at fault in the crash, FHP said.
A personal injury attorney told WFTV that because the driver is not at fault, Lynx can't be held responsible for any damages.
Eight Lynx bus passengers were loaded onto stretchers and rushed to three different hospitals, including Florida Hospital.
FHP said the Mazda Miata slammed into the bus that was stopped to let people off along OBT.
“It was stopped and then hear a car hit the back of it and I see smoke on the side,” said Lynx bus passenger Deandre Herell.
The scene was chaotic on Wednesday as 25 firefighters and several fire trucks surrounded the crash scene.
“There was a lady that stood up and started screaming and didn't know what happened,” said Herell.
FHP troopers said the driver of the Miata, Colleen Foster, didn't try to stop before slamming into the bus, but there were no skid marks on the road.
Investigators said the injuries were all minor, except for Foster who sustained serious injuries.
Twenty-six passengers were on the Lynx bus at the time of the crash.
“A lot of people were more frightened than anything from the impact and then seeing the smoke,” said Melvin Perkins, Lynx bus passenger.
Skip Butler was standing up at the time the car rear-ended the bus, and he thinks some of those on the bus overreacted.
“It was a big thud, I was standing up and I didn't even lose my balance,” said Butler.
The names of the Lynx bus passengers that were injured haven't been released, and Foster is being charged with careless driving, according to FHP.
