CINCINNATI --

A construction worker is recovering after an accident at a Symmes Township work site.

Firefighters said the victim was working in a culvert pipe under Montgomery Road near Seven Gables Road. Officials said the culvert was 14-feet in diameter and almost 250 feet long.

Investigators said the worker was struck in the chest with a metal pipe. Paramedics said his injuries were not life-threatening.

Fire crews said they had to raise the victim out of the pipe with a rope system. Firefighters said the process was difficult because of the snow and ice.

The victim was taken to Bethesda North Hospital.
