12 Students Hurt After Bus Crash in Wisconsin

MARKESAN, Wis. --
Twelve school children were injured after the school bus they were riding in crashed in Green Lake County on Tuesday.
The crash happened at about 7:40 a.m. on Hickory Road in the Town of Mackford. The school bus, which was operated by Fairwater Garage for the Markesan School District, left the roadway, entered a ditch and struck an embankment. The bus then left the ground for 30 feet, landed in the ditch and was driven back onto the roadway, according to the Green Lake County Sheriff's Office.
Twenty-seven children were onboard the bus at the time of the crash, but 12 were injured. One child was transported to the hospital via ambulance, authorities said. According to school officials, several other students were taken to their family physicians by their parents.
All parents of the students were contacted about the crash.
School officials said that the crash is being investigated by the Sheriff's Office.
