Police said at least one person was killed and as many as three other people were injured in a Friday evening Atascosa County wreck.

PLEASANTON, Texas --

Police said four people were killed and three others were injured in a Friday evening Atascosa County wreck.

Police said the wreck occurred around 6 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 37 South and Highway 97 near Pleasanton.

Police said the accident shut down I-37 for several hours as investigators cleaned up the accident.

Police said seven people -- ranging in age from four to 38 -- were traveling to San Antonio from the valley when their 2002 Ford Explorer SUV blew a tire, flipped and rolled multiple times.

Police said the SUV did not appear to have any child restraints in the vehicle. Among the four people who were killed were two children, ages 4 and 9, and two adults, 22 and 28 years old, police said. Two of the survivors were airlifted to University Hospital, police said. The other was taken to Brooke Army Medical Center.

Police said they did not think the adults were wearing seat belts either.

Police have not released the identities of those killed or injured.
