Pa. Officer Hit by Car While Helping Injured Man
A police officer is hospitalized after he is hit by a car in Elizabeth Township early Saturday morning.
ELIZABETH TOWNSHIP, Pa. --
A police officer was hospitalized after he was hit by a car in Elizabeth Township early Saturday morning.
Emergency dispatchers said it happened at about 2 a.m. on Boston Hollow Road near Route 48.
The officer was flown from the scene by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that the injured officer was 33-year-old Jamie Evans.
The police chief said Evans suffered a broken bone in his pelvic area.
Investigators determined Evans was struck when he came to the aid of another man who had also been hit by a vehicle.
Police said the man suffered a broken leg in the incident.
