Ohio Teen Struck by School Bus

Police said a 17-year-old female was struck by a Dayton Public School bus in the Drexel area of Trotwood.


TROTWOOD, Ohio --

Police in said they are investigating after a student was struck by a school bus.

The crash happened at the intersection of Lorimer and Hanna in Trotwood. Investigators said the 17-year-old was alert, conscious and crying.

According to witnesses, the teen was struck by a Dayton Public School bus in the Drexel area of town.

Officers said the teen was not on the bus and before she was struck. At this time, officers are not sure what school the bus was coming from.

James Bailey who witnessed the crash said, "I was watching my daughter get off the bus and there was this little girl walking down the street."

Bailey called 911 and stayed with the teen until an ambulance arrived. Medics then took the teen to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries.

Bailey said the the teen told him that she could not feel her legs.

Sgt. Fred Back with Trotwood Police said, "There are too many questions right now. The bus driver said she did not see the teen. There are conflicting reports between the witness and bus driver."

There were eight students on the bus and were transferred to another bus to be taken home. No one on the bus was injured.
