Cleveland Paramedic Says Theft Was Worst Mistake in Her Life

CLEVELAND --

A former Cleveland EMS worker accused of stealing from an unconscious patient in the back of an ambulance learned her sentence Monday.

Tiffany Forte, 32, was charged with stealing two credit cards from an elderly woman while taking her to the hospital and charging nearly $1,000.

It was in June when Elizabeth Kasunic, 84, showed NewsChannel5 the list of charges at Giant Eagle, CVS and beauty salons. Police had surveillance video of Forte using the credit cards at Target.

Kasunic's son George spoke Monday on her behalf in front of Forte and the judge.

"I just can't see how a person that could get such a great feeling from being a part of a process that would save a life, go around and steal from somebody whose completely vulnerable and defenseless," said George Kasunic.

"My children, my family, all the people I let down. It was the worst mistake I ever made in my entire life," Forte said.

The judge gave Forte 100 hours of community service and two years probation.

The single mother of three lost her job with EMS in June.
