Maryland Medevac Pilot Fired Amid Probe

He warned about the safety concerns days before the fatal crash.

--

Maryland State Police confirmed Saturday that a Medevac pilot was fired for refusing to cooperate with an internal safety probe.

Pete Peterson had warned days before September's fatal Medevac crash in Prince George's County that Maryland's chopper fleet had significant safety issues. State police said the maintenance records substantiating the claims were not received.

State police spokesman Maj. Greg Shipley said Peterson was fired for refusal to cooperate in the investigation and other issues.

Peterson can appeal the decision.
