Police: Shooting Victim Threatened Cleveland Paramedics

When the ambulance arrived, police said, the victim and friend threatened to shoot the paramedics.

CLEVELAND --

Cleveland police said the scene of a shooting became chaotic Tuesday.

Cleveland paramedics responded to East 65th Street and Ovington at about 6:15 a.m. and were threatened, NewsChannel5 reported.

Police said a teenager was shot after claiming he was robbed, and then he and his friend threatened paramedics.

The victim's sister said she heard a gunshot and rushed outside to find her 18-year-old brother, Theo Echos, on the ground. He told her to call 911.

But when the ambulance arrived, police said, the victim and friend threatened to shoot the paramedics.

The ambulance left and paramedics called police.

"I came out the door and y'all want info and y'all got your guns out saying there's guns in the house and we're trying to shoot at the ambulance. How we sound? We calling for help," said the victim's brother, Taja Curry

No shots were fired at the ambulance.

The victim was eventually taken to the hospital by paramedics with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, and relatives said he should be OK.

Police arrested the victim's friend, David Humphries, 19, for resisting arrest and misconduct at an emergency. He is in the city jail.
