In disaster news, a tornado struck Iowa Sunday, killing six people and injuring about 70. Warning sirens gave residents time to seek shelter yet most of those killed in were in basements.

About 100 people have been killed by U.S. tornados so far this year, the worst toll in a decade, according to the weather service. The number is likely to grow as tornado season typically peaks in spring to early summer, and again in late fall.

This Thursday a medical helicopter crashed on the roof of a Michigan hospital and caught fire moments after the two people on board escaped with minor injuries. The pilot had been practicing appraoches with no patients on board.

"There's not a whole lot left, but you can tell it was a helicopter," Fire Chief John VanSolkema said.

Patients were evacuated from several floors of the hospital as well as the ED, the Level 1 trauma center for western Michigan.
