Two paramedics and a pilot were killed after a medical helicopter crashed Tuesday night into a bay off the South Texas coast.

According to the Brownsville Herald, rescue workers have recovered the bodies of all three crew members of the Valley AirCare EMS helicopter: paramedics Michael T. Sanchez and Raul Garcia, and pilot Robert Goss.

The helicopter was reportedly en-route from Harlingen to South Padre Island for the medical evacuation of a patient from the Port Isabel Convention Center. The crew aborted the mission due to weather and shortly thereafter lost communications, according to a Coast Guard media release.

The Coast Guard received the report of a down helicopter at approximately 9:50 p.m. and located the wreckage at approximately 11:00 p.m. with the assistance of the U. S. Customs and Boarder Patrol, Texas Parks and Wildlife, and local EMS agencies. The helicopter had crashed into the lower Laguna Madre Bay.
