Boston Trolley Crash Injures 46

A Boston trolley rear-ended another last Friday evening, injuring at least 46 people near Boston's Government Center station. It was revealed that the driver was texting his girlfriend at the time of the crash. He has since been fired, and Boston's MBTA has announced a ban against any train, trolley or bus operators carrying cell phones on duty. Another Swine Flu Outbreak in NYC Closes 3 Schools

The swine flu flare-up has left an assistant principal in critical condition and sent hundreds of students home with flu symptoms, according to reports. Mayor Bloomberg announced that three schools would be closed for at least a week because "There are an unusually high level of flulike illnesses at those schools."

However so far, the virus still does not appear to be any more infectious or deadly than the seasonal flu. The virus continues to be tracked at http://cdc.gov/h1n1flu/.

Thanks to the efforts of the industry's champions on Capitol Hill, language in the bill specifically makes EMS systems eligible for various grants and loans the historic legislation provides.
