CHICAGO --
Seven people were injured in a crash involving a CTA bus and a Chicago Fire Department ambulance in the Loop on Tuesday afternoon.
An EMS Plan 1 response was called for the crash after a bus and ambulance collided at Monroe and Michigan about 12:35 p.m., according to Fire Media Affairs Assistant Director Eve Rodriguez. An EMS Plan 1 automatically sends to the scene five ambulances, two fire trucks, two engines, a battalion chief and an EMS field officer.
CTA Spokeswoman Wanda Taylor said a CTA No. 3 King Drive bus was northbound on Michigan and the ambulance, traveling southbound on Michigan, was making a left turn when the vehicles made contact. Taylor did not know which vehicle struck the other or which had the right of way.
Seven people were injured, Rodriguez said. Five were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in stable condition and two were taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in good condition. Taylor did not know whether the injured were passengers on the bus. Crews remained on the scene as of 4 p.m.
