A Martins Ferry woman is facing charges of felony assault on a public officer after police said she slapped a paramedic who tried to help her after she wrecked.

Teresa Davidson, 40, of Martins Ferry, is in the Belmont County Jail awaiting arraignment on several charges, including driving under the influence, disorderly conduct, and felony assault on a public officer.

Police said Davidson was driving drunk down the 700 block of Broadway Street Wednesday night when she hit three parked cars, injuring one man who was sitting in his car.

Paramedics and police said they asked Davidson repeatedly to get out of her car, but she refused, forcing them to use the 'Jaws of Life' and remove her car roof. That happened not before police said Davidson slapped one of the paramedics in the face.

The male victim was transported with head injuries, and has since been released.

Davidson was transported with possible neck injuries. Police said she remained disorderly, and even threatened to assault hospital staff.

Davidson will likely be arraigned early next week.
