CLENDENIN, W.Va. (AP) -- A Kanawha County ambulance crashed Thursday night, the second such accident in less than a month. The ambulance was responding to a crash in the Clendenin area when it collided with a car at 10:45 p.m. on U.S. 119, a county emergency dispatcher said.
No patients were in the ambulance at the time. It wasn't immediately known how many people were hurt, the dispatcher said.
A helicopter took the injured to Charleston Area Medical Center. A telephone message left at the hospital wasn't immediately returned.
Last month, a woman was killed and her 9-year-old daughter and an emergency worker were injured when a Kanawha County ambulance crashed on the West Virginia Turnpike in Fayette County. The ambulance was returning the girl to McDowell County.
The Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority has ordered an investigation into the September accident.
