The Bryan Fire Department has changed its policy following a theft of an ambulance this past weekend, according to KBTX-TV.
Chief Mike Donoho told the station that from now on, drivers will be required to take the keys with them during stops.
Shortly after 5 a.m. on Aug. 23, a suspect allegedly drove off with one of the department's ambulances as it was parked at St. Joseph Regional Health Center.
The paramedics were dropping off a patient at the emergency room and had left the keys in the cab of the vehicle, according to the report.
Lawrence Reyes Jr. was later caught off Highway 6 after allegedly ditching the vehicle.
