I.T. Crisis Services (ITC) Partners with Inglewood to Develop Local Hazard Mitigation Plan

The City of Inglewood, California, today announced it has awarded the development of its local hazard mitigation plan to I.T. Crisis Services.

INGLEWOOD, Calif., Oct. 15 -- The City of Inglewood, California, today announced it has awarded the development of its local hazard mitigation plan to I.T. Crisis Services (ITC) ( http://www.ITCrisis.com), a Los Angeles-area provider of global crisis management solutions.

With this agreement, ITC will assess the city's hazard risk and prepare a multiple hazard mitigation strategy to prepare Inglewood residents and businesses from all types of natural and man-made disasters, such as earthquakes, fires or acts of terrorism. ITC will also be responsible for identifying responsible parties to update and maintain the city's mitigation plan, as well as to prepare the necessary documentation for the plan's approval and adoption by the city council, the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Throughout its history, ITC has helped dozens of countries and hundreds of organizations successfully recover from a crisis, a track record that resonated with key members of the City of Inglewood Planning Team and Plan Advisory Task Force during the review process. "We chose ITC because they've successfully responded to over 70 critical events in 49 countries," said Inglewood City Administrator Timothy E. Wanamaker. "Experience like this is key in helping members of our community prepare for, respond to, and recover from all types of natural or man-made disasters."

Not only does this partnership serve to protect the residents and businesses within the City of Inglewood, it also serves to comply with the Federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 that requires all jurisdictions to adopt a local hazard mitigation plan in order to receive much-needed FEMA funding in the event of a crisis.

"Nobody knows when a disaster is going to strike," said Terri Lynn Pond, President and CEO of ITC. "That's why it's especially important for municipalities at the local level to have the necessary processes in place to keep their residents safe, in addition to complying with state and federal requirements to access necessary funding during a critical event."

As part of this agreement, ITC will also be closely involved with the plan's adoption and approval, including presenting a final draft of the plan for public input and review, as well as conducting public hearings and assisting in the presentation of the final plan to Inglewood City Council members. Once approved at the local level, ITC will assist the City of Inglewood in obtaining approvals by SEMA and FEMA.
