Nov. 13--A patient in an ambulance died in Detroit Tuesday morning after a driver crashed into the emergency vehicle, according to WWJ-AM 950.

The driver of the car and the driver of the ambulance were transported to area hospitals for injuries sustained, the station reported.

Eastbound Grand River is closed between Northrop Street and Lahser Road while the incident is being investigated, according to traffic.com. One lane of traffic is open to westbound traffic in this stretch of road, the Web site reported.
