An American Medical Response ambulance was broadsided by a tractor-trailer about 9 p.m. Sunday in downtown Modesto, police said.
The ambulance driver, paramedic and two Ceres firefighters in the back of the ambulance suffered minor injuries. The patient's status was not known. Emergency workers were performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation on him at the time of the accident.
The truck driver was not hurt, police said. The ambulance was northbound on Ninth Street when it was struck by the tractor-trailer traveling west on H Street, police said. The ambulance skidded across the intersection and onto the hood of a Ford pickup, smashing the windshield before tipping back onto its wheels, police said.
