Oklahoma EMT Dies after Ambulance Crash

An Oklahoma EMT died in the line of duty Thursday following a Wednesday night crash on an icy road.


An Oklahoma EMT died in the line of duty Thursday following a Wednesday night crash on an icy road.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol told EMSResponder.com that 51-year-old Janez Case was seriously injured when the ambulance she was riding in slid off the road and overturned.

Case was an employee of Clayton, Okla. EMS.

Case was transported to Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith, Ariz. where she later died.

Two other women were also inside the ambulance at the time of the crash. The Associated Press reports Megan Conner, 16, was being treated in the ambulance at the time of the accident. Conner was taken to the hospital with head and chest injuries. She was listed in stable condition.

The ambulance's driver, 34-year-old Shelley Gunter, sustained only minor injures.
