Illinois Rescuers Prepare for the Worst with School Shooting Drill
The drill had been planned for months, but recent school shootings made it especially relevant.
Normal Community West High school Principal Tom Eder praised his staff members on their response, and said he would look into how to reunite students with family members given there are more than 1,600 students at the school.
Eder said most doors to his school regularly remain locked, there are video cameras at the school and staff members are constantly in hallways. But the most important prevention method is talking with students, he said.
