Emergency Medical Services Announces AMR Preferred Provider Agreement, New AMR Markets

Under the agreement, AMR will provide services to 31 nursing homes, rehabilitation centers and assisted living facilities in California, Texas, Nevada, Kansas and Missouri that are affiliated with Skilled Healthcare.


Emergency Medical Services Corporation (NYSE: EMS) today announced that its American Medical Response, Inc. (AMR) subsidiary has entered into an agreement with a group of skilled nursing facilities affiliated with Skilled Healthcare LLC as a preferred provider for non-emergency ambulance transportation services.

Under the agreement, AMR will provide services to 31 nursing homes, rehabilitation centers and assisted living facilities in California, Texas, Nevada, Kansas and Missouri that are affiliated with Skilled Healthcare. The relationship is expected to generate over $2 million in annual revenue for AMR.

EMSC Chairman and CEO William A. Sanger said: "We're very pleased with our new relationship with the Skilled Healthcare affiliates. Our unique ability to support their patient-focused services, coupled with our ability to provide managed transportation services (including a single point of contact for communications) will provide the basis for a win-win partnership."

EMSC also announced today that the Company has begun providing non-emergency transportation services in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Northwest Arkansas.

According to Roylene Rhodes, Vice President, Business Development of EMSC, "our entry into these new markets is consistent with our strategy to develop new operations in markets where the company can create competitive advantages and increase market share. Our ability to understand customer and patient needs provides the foundation for new market development."

The Company expects that initial contracts in these new markets will contribute approximately $3 million in new annual revenues to EMSC.
