Oklahoma Ambulance with Lights and Sirens Struck by Car

An ambulance with its lights and sirens on was struck by a motorist who failed to yield at an intersection Wednesday.

An ambulance with its lights and sirens on was struck by a motorist who failed to yield at an intersection Wednesday, an ambulance service spokeswoman said.

About $8,000 worth of damage was done to the ambulance, which was northbound on Utica Avenue and had a green light at the time of the collision. The other vehicle had been eastbound on Sixth Street.

The driver of the other vehicle was taken in another ambulance to St. Francis Hospital in fair condition, said Tina Wells, a spokeswoman for the Emergency Medical Services Authority.

The two medics in the ambulance likely will be sore from the crash, but neither man required transportation to a hospital, Wells said.

They had just left St. John Medical Center and were headed to a call in Owasso when the crash occurred about 11:30 a.m.
