North Carolina EMT-I Dies After Call

John Dwight Jefferson was a member of Edgecombe County Rescue Squad.


A rescue squad in North Carolina is mourning one of its own.

EMT-I John Dwight Jefferson, of Edgecombe County Rescue Squad, died Saturday June 9, after returning from an EMS call, according to reports.

Jefferson was a founding member of the Pinetops Rescue Squad and served as a member for the Edgecombe County squads for over 40 years. He also was a firefighter, veteran of the U.S. military's special forces and a teacher.

Visitation will be held at Pinetops Volunteer Fire Department from 9-11 a.m. June 13. Funeral services will begin at 11.
