Texas Man Struck, Killed by Ambulance
The ambulance was returning to quarters after dropping off a patient.
A 22-year-old Texas oilfield worker was struck by an ambulance and killed earlier this week.
Emergency Medical Technician Janio Martinez was driving the Camino Real Ambulance to Carrizo Springs after dropping off a patient at a San Antonio Hospital when the incident occurred on I-35, according to mysanantonio.com,
“The ambulance driver didn't really have any warning at all,” DPS Sgt. Robert Russell told reporters. “He was walking at the top of the hill's crest, and the driver had no time to react.”
Michael B. Davalos, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was struck while he was walking home.
Martinez and his passenger Rick Veliz, an EMT, were uninjured, but both were shaken up by the crash, according to Angel Perez, the company's PIO.
