SAN DIEGO --
A homeless man was seriously injured after being run over by a vehicle around 8:15 p.m. Sunday.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Midway and Rosecrans when a driver honked his horn at a man pushing a shopping cart across the street who had a "Don't Walk" sign.
The man crossing the street became angry, so he allegedly rammed his shopping cart into the driver's vehicle.
The driver got upset and sped off, hitting the pedestrian in the process.
A passing SDFD medic unit transporting a person to the hospital came across the seriously injured pedestrian and stopped to help.
Police, fire and another ambulance arrived on the scene.
Police interviewed witnesses to get a description of the vehicle, which was only described as an SUV with Arizona license plates.
Medics treated and transported the victim to UCSD Medical Center.
Police tell 10News that the driver may have sped off in fear after being rammed by the shopping cart.
