Va. Agency to Release Rap Song to Promote Pedestrian Safety
Crossing Alert campaign will highlight risks distracted pedestrians face
Richmond, Va., July 31, 2012 -- For the past month, the Richmond Ambulance Authority (RAA) has been preparing a safe crossing campaign utilizing FEMA grant funding to launch locally and make available nationally.
The innovative safe crossing and distracted driving message will be delivered via viral media and RAA has penned a rap anthem to get the message across.
RAA billing supervisor and erstwhile rapper Sean Burton created and recorded the song, to be coupled with a video, due to be filmed in Richmond this coming weekend. Click here to listen to an excerpt from the song.
On average one pedestrian-related incident or accident occurs every three days in downtown Richmond. RAA's signature data analysis highlighted that all Richmonders are equally challenged when it comes to crossing the road safely regardless of age, gender or race.
