New Orleans Responders Return Favor to NYC
New York City firefighters flew to New Orleans seven years ago to assist after the devastation from Hurricane Katrina, and responders there never forgot the favor.
Now, New Orleans firefighters are in New York to assist in the recovery from Hurricane Sandy, and to say thank you to those who helped rebuild their own city, according to a Southwest Airlines press release. Southwest is reportedly covering the responders' flights.
The two cities' fire departments are working hand in hand in aiding the recovery in several areas that received damage from Hurricane Sandy.
