Delaware Medic Injured in Fall From Bridge
A Delaware medic was injured early Monday in a fall from a gap in a barrier on a bridge.
The medic was trying to jump over the divide on the Delaware Bridge to reach crash victims when he fell 50 feet onto the creek bed below, according to WPVI.com.
The 34-year-old New Castle County paramedic, who was not identified, was treated for back and neck injuries and taken to Christiana Hospital in stable condition, the agency’s Assistant Chief Richard D. Krett told reporters.
This incident comes one year and two days after a Virginia medic was killed in a similiar plunge.
Joshua Weissman, a paramedic with the Alexandria Fire Department, died last February after falling from a highway onto a creek bed.
