Two Injured After Ala. Ambulance Collides With Dump Truck

The crew had just responded to call for a four-month-old child who was deceased and were transporting her body.


Two people were injured after an ambulance collided with a dump truck Friday morning in Birmingham, reports WBRC?.

Matt Russell of Birmingham Fire and Rescue told the media both drivers were transported to the hospital for neck and back injuries. Two paramedics in the back of the ambulance were thrown but not injured.

The crew had just responded to call for a four-month-old child who was deceased and were transporting the child when the wreck occurred. Another ambulance arrived at the scene and took the child to the hospital, where she was officially pronounced dead.

Lt. Sean Edwards of Birmingham PD stressed to the media that the girl was not breathing at the time of the crash and would not have survived, even if the ambulance had not wrecked.
