Emergency Film Group Updates Caustics Training DVD
Sodium Hydroxide & Potassium Hydroxide includes new information about DOT-approved containers
Edgartown, MA -- Emergency Film Group has updated and released its popular DVD-based program Sodium Hydroxide & Potassium Hydroxide, which has been a resource for emergency response and safety personnel for over two decades.
Sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide are the two most widely used caustics in industry.
Caustics are strong alkaline chemicals, corrosive to many materials including human tissue. These caustics have also been used in the illegal manufacture of homemade bottle bombs, a recent problem for first responders.
This program includes new information about DOT-approved containers for these bases and protective clothing for working with caustics or responding to incidents where they are involved. There is also new information about cleaning up dry spills and on the use of acetic acid and muriatic acid in neutralization operations for liquid spills. As with all of EFG's Hazchem programs, Sodium Hydroxide & Potassium Hydroxide also provides in-depth information about the hazards associated with caustics, occupancies where they are found, safe use, appropriate storage, and proper emergency response to leaks, spills and fires.
Also new with this is an instructor's CD-rom with PowerPoint presentations that can be customized by the instructor as well as a post-seminar quiz and other documents in pdf format that will be of assistance in presenting a training seminar.
Technical advisors for Sodium Hydroxide & Potassium Hydroxide include Greg Noll, principal in the hazardous materials consulting firm Hildebrand-Noll Associates and Chair of the NFPA Technical Committee on Hazardous Materials Response; Jan Dunbar, Chairman of the California State Fire Marshal's committee to develop a hazmat specialist course and a member of NFPA & IAFC Technical Committees; Jerry Grey, retired hazmat chief of the San Francisco Fire Department and Vice Chairman of NFPA Technical Committee on HazMat Response Personnel and currently president of HazTech Systems Inc.; and Rick Emery, a principle member of the NFPA's Hazardous Materials Response Committee and President of the hazmat consulting firm Emery & Associates.
Sodium Hydroxide & Potassium Hydroxide was filmed on location with industry, fire departments, and bomb technicians throughout the country.
Emergency Film Group uses leading professionals in emergency response and film production to create authoritative and accurate training programs for, fire departments, hazmat teams, emergency management, police, EMS, the military and other emergency responders.
