Making a Difference One Cap at a Time

VisionAIR, clients team up with Stack the Caps to donate 758 hats to Duke Children’s Hospital & Health Center

November 2, 2011

CASTLE HAYNE, NC–VisionAIR®, provider of the integrated Public Safety Suite® of software has teamed up with Stack the Caps to make a special delivery to patients at Duke Children’s Hospital & Health Center on Friday, November 4, 2011 at 11:30 a.m.

A total of 758 hats will be donated to Duke’s Children’s Hospital from VisionAIR and its nationwide clients. The Durham County Sheriff’s Office, a VisionAIR client, will provide an escort to assist in the substantial delivery.

This year VisionAIR included Stack the Caps into its 22nd Annual Users’ Conference, which was held October 2-6th in Wilmington, NC. The 400 participants were asked to bring hats from their local Public Safety agencies covering law enforcement, fire, and EMS as well as sports teams or any new hats with them to the conference.

“Our goal was to break any previous stacking numbers with the help from our extended VisionAIR family,” said Michela Noreski, marketing representative. “We asked and they delivered, with a total of 758 caps stacked, which equates to 56 feet 5 inches long when stacked. Public Safety agencies in McHenry County, Illinois, that are VisionAIR clients, collected over 600 hats! McHenry County spread the word about the Stack the Caps event around their law enforcement, 911 dispatchers, fire departments and community to strengthen the collection of caps, and we are all very grateful.”

Stack the Caps began at Camp Starlight in Pennsylvania. The event was inspired by a young camper who died from a rare form of cancer. Camp Starlight Owners and Directors have organized annual drives to provide new baseball caps to children with cancer. The Stack the Caps organization began in 2008 with the initial goal to stack a mile of caps. Since the beginning over 26 feet of caps have been piled high. Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Tim Tebow, Lindsay Vonn, and now Hubert Davis and the Tennessee Volunteers football team have signed hats for this worthy cause.
