GridMeNow Assisting with Post-Sandy Damage Assessment

ALEXANDRIA, VA—GridMeNow™, White Canvas Group’s smartphone-based situational awareness technology is being used for critical post-Sandy disaster assessment and recovery in New York and Pennsylvania by Cotton Industries and the Huntingdon County Emergency Management Agency. The organizations are relying on the solution to map damage areas in New York State and Pennsylvania and provide disaster recovery teams with rapid, “two-click,” location-based information that cannot be delivered by any other communications technologies available today.

With just two clicks on a Smartphone, GridMeNow enables operators to communicate, share and use location-based visuals and reports in real-time. The simple-to-use technology seamlessly connects team members with the valuable information needed to make immediate decisions that can help save property and lives.

GridMeNow is quickly gaining popularity among private industry, state and local government and Department of Defense users. Most recently, a secure customized version of the technology was used during the Jackal Stone 2012 exercise in Croatia.

“Our area, covering a rural population of 46,000 west of Harrisburg, PA, and spanning 889 square miles, was in the eye of the storm”, said Adam Miller, Director of the Huntingdon County Emergency Management Agency. “GridMeNow created an exceptional force multiplication that enhanced our efforts—effectively replacing boots on the ground and capturing critical images of damage and flood impacts in real time. The technology efficiently focused our communications, recovery and reporting efforts, and greatly exceeded our expectations.”

About GridMeNow
GMN, a smartphone-based application, enables users to instantly send and receive texts, pictures and video reports with geographic positions, and relay critical intelligence needed for decision making. Unlike traditional two-way radio or phone communications, GMN can provide the precise location of an incident and a picture of what is unfolding. It’s as easy to use as a cell phone, but provides the real-time, sophisticated data needed for command personnel to take timely and effective action. The only truly customizable solution of its kind, GMN is currently used by diverse clients, including a Federal Commission for emergency planning, Virginia Tech, the United States Naval Academy, various U.S. defense organizations and Cotton, the global disaster solutions company.
