Protocols are emerging that specify post-cardiac arrest cooling in the ambulance. This presentation examines EMS protocols and describes how you might start cooling in the field, monitor patient progress and hand off to the hospital.
Frank Guyette, MD, MPH, is an assistant professor and research director at the University of Pittsburgh, Department of Emergency Medicine. He is the medical director and assistant director at numerous Pennsylvania EMS services, staff physician at numerous Pennsylvania hospitals, as well as a flight physician. He serves as chair of the PaACEP EMS Committee and has earned numerous EMS honors, including being named as a Top 10 Innovator in EMS (JEMS). He is a research contributor and author on dozens of studies and related articles, as well as a peer reviewer.
