Julota Named 2018 EMS World Innovation Award Finalist

Julota, a software platform that creates a virtual safety net in a community by connecting the local patchwork of agencies and organizations that serve the community’s most vulnerable individuals, has been named a finalist for the 2018 EMS World Innovation Awards. Julota and the other finalists will be recognized at the upcoming 2018 EMS World Expo Oct. 29–Nov. 2 in Nashville, TN.

EMS World recognized Julota because it improves the collaboration of resources and care for patients while optimizing efficiency. Its easy-to-learn user interface quickly captures complex information from the user and organizes the data to a granular level for intricate analysis.

“Julota simplifies the way EMS can connect patients to other local care organizations, such as state and faith-based social services, behavioral- and mental-health facilities, substance-abuse support, food banks, and more,” said Rick Pionkowski, MD, MS, Julota’s president and CEO. “It works alone or within an electronic patient care record application to enable quick on-site referrals without phone calls or paperwork.”

“We’re thrilled EMS World has named Julota a finalist for its Innovation Awards, and we consider it a testament to not only our staff, but the hundreds of local organizations committed to helping their communities and those who need and benefit from their efforts,” concluded Dr. Pionkowski.

With the Julota platform any EMS team can directly and instantly connect with any resource, service, or organization in their local community. The platform is designed to help initiate referrals a vulnerable citizen may not otherwise obtain—be it for a fall risk assessment, food security, transportation, help for opioid addiction, or even a telemedicine consultation.

In less than two years, 40 communities across the U.S. have implemented Julota to reduce their high-utilizer calls, improve the health of their populations, decrease costs, and elevate their standing and reputation in their communities. This includes communities such as Denver, CO, Santa Fe, NM, and Redmond, WA.
