Fla. Ambulance Crash Injures Two EMS Providers

The driver and passenger of an Okaloosa County ambulance were taken to the hospital with injuries Wednesday after crashing into a concrete mixing truck, officials said.

According to a press release from Florida Highway Patrol, Timothy Deer, 38, and Andrea Jockers, 48, were traveling in the EMS vehicle north on State Road 85 approaching Plympton Road around 10 a.m. en route to a call with lights and siren activated.

Carl Watson, 63, had stopped his 2019 truck within the northbound lane. As the ambulance tried to pass Watson, he turned left into the EMS vehicle's path, the report said.

Watson was not hurt. Deer, the ambulance's driver suffered minor injuries. Jocker's injuries are reportedly serious, the FHP said.

Watson was charged with failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
