Former Fla. EMT Sentenced to Prison for Possessing Child Pornography

Orlando Sentinel

A former emergency medical technician from Seminole County has been sentenced to 19 years in federal prison on child pornography charges, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida announced Monday.

Bryan Matthew Cooney, 30, of Casselberry will be under 30 years of supervised release after his prison term.

From Sept. 19-27 last year, an FBI undercover agent and Cooney discussed on social media sexually exploiting a 12-year-old girl that Cooney said was his daughter, court records showed. Cooney alleged to have sexually abused the child and had images of her in sexually explicit situations, the attorney’s office said.

The girl turned out to be the daughter of one of Cooney’s friends, records showed. When agents executed a search warrant of Cooney’s home, he told them he had viewed child pornography for the past four or five years and had hundreds of videos and other images in a Dropbox account, the attorney’s office said.

The images included crimes against children between the ages of 4 and 10, court records showed.

The case was part of Project Safe Childhood. For more information on the project, click here.
