Tex. Ambulance Struck by Vehicle
July 25—The force of a crash caused an ambulance to flip on its side Tuesday night along the Southwest Freeway frontage Road.
A Concord EMS ambulance was travelling northbound on the frontage road near Bellaire Boulevard when a pickup truck heading westbound hit the side of the ambulance, causing it to flip on its driver's side, Houston police said.
The ambulance had its lights and sirens operating at the time of the crash, police said. No one was in the ambulance except for the driver, who was walking and talking to authorities before being taken to the hospital.
The driver of the pickup truck was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition, according to Metro Video.
Houston Police Department crash investigators are looking into the crash and will determine if any charges are necessary. It isn't clear if anyone ran a red light.
