Mich. Men Charged for Murder of Off-Duty Firefighter

Aug. 26—Two 18-year-old men have been charged in connection with the murder of an off-duty Detroit firefighter last week.
Arondez Carter and Shomari Walker, both 18, were both charged by Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy with felony murder, first degree premeditated murder, armed robbery, tampering with evidence, fourth degree arson and felony firearm.
Carter and Walker are expected to be arraigned Sunday, Aug. 26 at 34th District Court in Romulus.
Jack Wiley Jr., a 28-year-old Detroit firefighter, was found dead around 9 a.m. Aug. 21 in his home in the 15000 block of Penrod Street in Detroit. It is alleged Carter and Walker were in Wiley's home and planned to rob him, according to the prosecutor's office. Carter and Walker allegedly shot and killed Wiley during the robbery, took his belongings and fled the scene.
Carter and Walker also allegedly later set fire to some of the stolen goods to conceal the theft, according to the prosecutor's office.
