Action Training Systems Releases Updated Firefighting Basics Series

Action Training Systems, Inc. has updated their most popular Firefighter I and II training product. This revised, 33-part training series, “Firefighting Basics: Firefighter I & II” presents the skills and prerequisite knowledge for the most recent edition of NFPA 1001: Standard for Professional Firefighter Qualifications.

Titles in this series feature fire control techniques, the use of fire streams, ladder safety and use, fire hose basics, forcible entry techniques, the use of personal protective clothing and SCBA, ropes and knots demonstrations, rescue operation skills, the use of foam fire streams, public safety education, and much more.    

 

Updates to the revised series include information from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) on fire behavior and controlling flow paths, including best practices in ventilation operations and tactics. Additional training objectives include best practices for response to Active Shooter-Hostile Events, roadside and vehicle safety, plus expanded information on firefighter health and wellness, including recognizing potential signs of PTSD and recommendations for limiting exposure to cancer-causing risks.
