MONOC Donates Narcan to N.J. Squads in Memory of Doctor’s Son

On April 19 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick Township, a ceremony was held to honor the son of one of MONOC’s (Monmouth Ocean Hospital Service Corporation) Medical Advisory Board physicians. Dr. Gary Noris’ son Christopher died of an opioid overdose on August 31, 2018 at the age of 28. This devastating news struck a chord within the MONOC EMS family and showed that the opioid crisis in our country is not selective.

Vincent Robbins, President & CEO of MONOC said, “We were saddened by the news of Gary’s son Christopher and we wanted to do something in his honor that would benefit the community.” At the ceremony, MONOC presented a plaque to Dr. Noris and pledged to provide Narcan to the volunteer basic life support squads in the Ocean Medical Center area at no cost. Dr. Noris said, “If we can save one life and one family from going through what we have gone through, the program will be a success.”
