For many years, Missouri has had a law enforcement memorial in Jefferson City Missouri and a Missouri firefighter memorial in Kingdom City, Missouri. But to date Missouri does not have an EMS memorial. There are some folks in Missouri that are working to make a permanant EMS memorial a reality.
The Missouri EMS Memorial Foundation and the Missouri EMS Memorial was established in 2018 with one mission: honoring the memory of Missouri Emergency Medical Services individuals who gave their lives in the line of duty. The foundation is dedicated to providing a permanent home where individuals, families, and organizations can go to reflect and remember their loved ones who gave that ultimate sacrifice.
Located on the beautiful campus of Missouri Western State University, on Downs Drive in the City of St. Joseph, Missouri, a memorial site was selected to erect a permanent memorial. The Missouri EMS Memorial Wall of Honor will serve as a tribute to immortalize the extraordinary commitment and courage of the State of Missouri’s EMS providers. They also recognize the need to honor those who have faithfully served in EMS. Those names may be etched into one of the service walls which flank the Memorial Wall of Honor, watching over their fallen comrades.
A capital campaign has been started to raise funds to build the memorial. Groundbreaking is scheduled for Saturday, October 19 @ 2:00pm at the location. The foundation is working hard to get the money raised for the memorial. For more information people can go to www.moemsmemorialfoundation.org.
