Calif. Paramedics Plus Agency Receives Statewide Award
Sept. 12—The California Ambulance Association has named Paramedics Plus - Alameda as one of only three ambulance services in California as a recipient of the inaugural and 2018 California Ambulance Association Service Excellence (CAASE) Awards.
The CAASE awards recognize excellence, resourcefulness and ground-breaking ideas being implemented by California ambulance operators that showcase the best practices of ambulance businesses in the state.
A panel of independent judges reviewed all of the submissions, scored the programs and selected Paramedics Plus for its improvement program to streamline the hiring process, improve the method used to select new hires, and provide a more comprehensive training program that addresses the needs of entry‐level paramedics.
After one year, the program achieved its goals with a reduction in clearance times for paramedics, decreased labor costs and time for pre‐hire testing and interviews, decreased the amount of applicants lost to other employers, better defined the expectations of the field training for both new hires and the FTOs, and increased the engagement of the medical director.
In announcing the award winners, the California Ambulance Association identified that “companies willing to share their knowledge and ideas with their colleagues is the ideal way to demonstrate a company’s commitment to excellence. By sharing these achievements, these companies help to set the bar for everyone else in
California. Sharing this information improves California’s ambulance industry and strengthens the profession.”
California Chief Operating Officer for Paramedics Plus Rob Lawrence said, “We are grateful to the CAA for recognizing our commitment to service improvement and the pursuit of excellence. I would also like to praise the hard work and dedication of many members of staff from HR and recruiting through the Clinical Services Team, staff- based recruiting teams and the Field Training Officers for bringing this all together into the process we know as our ‘training pipeline’ – a job well done by all.”
The CAASE awards will be presented at the CAA Annual Convention and Reimbursement Conference on September 26, 2018, in Lake Tahoe. Hall Ambulance Service, Bakersfield and Medic Ambulance Service, Vallejo also received CAASE awards for 2018. Details about each award-winning program are posted on the CAA’s website at http://www.thecaa.org/CAASEAWinners.asp.
