Tex. Fire Dept. Releases Position Statement on Managing Patients with Potential Spinal Injuries
Recent literature, and a joint position statement published by the American College of Surgeons Committee on trauma, and the National Association of EMS Physicians have called into question the practice of using the long spineboard with a rigid cervical collar for spinal motion restriction.
Research based out of the Southwest Texas Regional Advisory Council has demonstrated superior methods of transport to promote spinal stabilization.
