The Point of Care Revolution: Ultrasound

After completing an undergraduate degree at UC Irvine in Biological Sciences, J. Christian (Chris) Fox went to Tufts Medical School and did his residency in emergency medicine back at UC Irvine. He then completed a fellowship in emergency ultrasound at University of Illinois. Since joining the UC Irvine faculty in 2001 in his role of Chief of the Division of Emergency Ultrasound he directs the Ultrasound Fellowship. In 2010 he created a fully integrated 4-year ultrasound curriculum at the school of medicine where he serves as the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs. He is the editor of Clinical Emergency Radiology, as well as Atlas of Emergency Ultrasound, and has authored over 60 articles on ultrasound including the UCI 30: a point by point comparison of the Stanford 25’s physical exam skills to incorporate ultrasound to enhance physical diagnosis.
