Feb. 13--Nicky, a Metro Police dog stabbed yesterday during an overnight barricade situation, is recovering.

"Good news from LVMPD K9! Nicky is back home, on the road to recovery," reads a photo post from the police department's Facebook page.

Scars and stitches are noticeable on the dog's face.

According to police:

Officers were called to a disturbance at an apartment complex about 9 p.m. Thursday in the 1100 block of Dumont Boulevard, near Maryland Parkway and Desert Inn Road.

Callers reported what might have been gunshots coming from an apartment unit.

In the 12 hours the standoff lasted, the man, who barricaded himself, made contact with police but later stopped talking to them.

Police said the man stabbed the dog multiple times before being arrested.

The man was taken to a hospital and the dog to a veterinarian.

The man's identify would not be made available until he's booked on charges that were yet to be determined.

Apartments in the complex were evacuated more than 13 hours.
